THERMOGRAPHIC INSPECTION OF PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULE HOT SPOTS

Thermographic testing is used to detect hot spot cells (i.e., cells with much lower current that absorb energy instead of producing it, causing them to overheat).

These cells compromise production and, over time, can cause the module to break.
The thermal imaging camera can also be used to check the bypass diodes located in the junction boxes. The test consists of framing the module and checking for cells or diodes with abnormal temperatures.
